It's not JUST Goldie Taylor or for that matter, just a certain portion of the media. There are two missed premises here that are crucial. Racial hatred was a motivator in this crime and it was an act of domestic terrorism; it's both. But these labels in fact, are not even the crucial take home lesson of the day.
Adam Lanza, the shooter in the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, is a good example of a parallel with the Charleston shooting. In both cases, there were guns that were either given as gifts (Charleston) or given access (Adam Lanza) to unstable individuals. In addition, and just as crucial, there were individuals and/or people on social media that had seen signs of instability in these individuals. You don't give a gun as a gift to a young person who shows signs of depression, anger, voices ill will for certain religious or ethnic groups etc. Until we act as individuals to notify law enforcement and mental health immediately when we have the golden opportunities to do so in these instances, we will be behind the eight ball.
I hope that we could even consider something like an "Adam Alert" when we have these fore warnings.
Below are examples of these fore warnings that were blown:

The exception was James Holmes: http://www.cnn.com/...
I'm sure some will disagree, but I truly think the lines of communication need to be opened for people to better prevent these tragedies instead of head shaking and new gun laws that may or may not play a significant role. It's not always a gun in these crimes either btw. http://newsone.com/...
I hope we can learn from these things and help prevent tragedies before they ever happen.
