I can take criticism...there are lots of folks willing to dish it out.
How about what is being passed and what isn't being passed to be used as a favorable or unfavorable benchmark. The current Congress, specifically because of outside money influence, cannot:
bring back Glass-Steagall
Immediately shut down the Bush Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans
Intelligently cut military spending which would include pulling the 15,000 contractors from Iraq
Raising the tax rate on dividend income over $200,000 per year
Having flexibility in government salaries and pensions and not penalize, lay off or punish fiscally teachers, paraprofessionals and non-executives in the school systems like they are doing
Change the funding of the pension funding for the postal workers and save the UPS
Unlike Senator Gillibrand, slowly allow the safe importation of prescription drugs and encourage more production of generic medications in the US.
I can go on and you can attack me, but the real honest story here is that I am one peon that could one of many in the US Senate and House with no lobby money, no aggregate donations from bank, oil, gas, Pharma or health insurance employees that has perverted legislation and will lead to some tougher times for the middle class in the next few years. Some have attacked me here for trying to take on someone who is great at fund raising, benefitting from the downturn financially and then calling for reform, etc. I am from a mixed blue collar, white collar background. Prior to the shoe in with help from her lobbyist Dad, she held no political office. So why attack me for the very same thing? Actually, I served my country for 6 years active duty and was a military whistle blower and paid for it. I have provided health care for over twenty years and help raise a special needs daughter who will need care for her entire life. I'm 51 years old with a student loan, not living some grandiose, spoon fed life. I know what it means to work hard and struggle, and I've had three life and death experiences, all making me a stronger person. Attack me as you will. It bothers me, and so does the current political system. I will at least try to give it my all even if it is a little obnoxious and outside the box at times. This week in particular will be just that. It's easy to be a political arm chair quarterback. It's harder to spend money that is hard earned and fight for people that can't fight for themselves. I'm not perfect, never will be, but I'm doing my darndest to make some badly needed changes to a broken system. So if I'm critical of what has been passed legislatively as well as what hasn't, then I think I'm on the same piece of paper with many of the callers to progressive talk shows that express this. Btw, the progressive shows don't want folks like me 'crapping all over everything', namely the Democratic Party to which I belong. I will never take PAC money, I will never take re-election money if I win, and I will not take money from sources folks here say I would take if I got in. Not my mindset and you are dead wrong about me there.
